how it all began...

My passion for photography began in middle school when I first picked up a camera in a journalism class and quickly fell in love with seeing the world through a creative lens. In high school at Highland Park, I continued developing my skills through the yearbook program and discovered a particular passion for sports photography.

In 2018, I turned that passion into a business—Kate Thomason Photography—and began capturing everything from families and nonprofits to brands and Friday night football games.

Since then, photography has taken me far beyond Texas. I’ve had the opportunity to work internationally in Lusaka, Zambia, as well as with The University of Texas at Austin Athletic Department’s creative team, gaining experience in fast-paced, high-level environments.

Today, I continue to grow my business, constantly seeking new opportunities to tell stories, connect with people, and capture meaningful moments through my work.
